Books I read in January: January wrap-up

Hey guys!!! :)

How is it going?

So, today I want to share with you the books I managed to read this month and they are not many :'( I don't know what happened this month, I believe is because I'm starting several books and left them unread . But anyway, here they are the books I read in January:

Anne of Green Gables (Anne of Green Gables, #1)

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. I liked this book, but I didn't love it. At first I felt in love with it, but later I thought it was OK. It's a great book and I think children would love it, but I got tired the stories were always about Anne's mischiefs. Well, at the end of the book the stories changed and I loved them.

The Sweetest Thing (Lucky Harbor, #2)

The sweetest thing by Jill Shalvis. OMG!!! I really really really really loved this book. It was soooooooooooooooo great!!! :) It's perfect. I loved it because it mixed romance, with serious stuff, but NOT in a soap opera way. It was well-written and very entertaining. Thanks Jill Shalvis for writing it and Kimberly of On the wings of a book for sharing in her blog.

Well, so this is my list. Yes, it's a bit short, but anyway I hope to read more books in February although the month is short :(

Wait! I read another one.

Wonderstruck

Wonder struck by Brian Selznick. I finished this morning and the book is a masterpiece. I highly recommend it. It's amazing. It's about two people, a boy and a girl. The story of the boy is telling through words and the girl through pictures. How cool is that, huh? Brian is also the author of The invention of Hugo Cabret, which I also recommend :)

So what do you think? Do you know the books? Do you want to read them? What have you read this month? Please let me know in the comments!!! :)

Top Ten Most Frustrating Characters Ever

hosted by: The Book and the Bookish

Hi everyone!!! :)

So today I want to discuss with you about the most frustrating characters ever we can find in books.

I've racked my brains trying to find those characters I've annoyed very much and I could think of these 8

The Girls:

Jane from Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. Do you think she's annoying or it's just me? Anne is soo kind with Jane whereas Jane always says what her mind speaks and she doesn't care if she hurts Anne's feelings. Agh, I'll strangle her X-(

Jana from ttyl by Lauren Myracle. This character is not only annoying, she is a really bad person. She's horrible and she doesn't care about anybody. She likes saying bad things about people, she think she's great, but in the end she'll see she's alone.

Amanda from Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. Uff, this person annoys me a looot. She seems to me she's spoiled. She wants what she can't have and don't let other people to get it. It's like she can get anything because she's batting her eyelashes. But when she can't get in this way, she gets mad.

Laura from P.S. I love you by Cecelia Arhern. Puff, I think she's similar to Amanda, but in an older version. She doesn't know what she wants and she doesn't care to hurt people. She makes scenes and she is also spoiled.

Katherine 1 from An abundance of Katherines by John Green. I don't remember very well, but I think she kissed a guy or went out just to know what it was and then she left the guy. I think she was a bit impulse and she didn't care about consequences, just to get what she want.

The Boys:

Tal from Nick and Norah's infinitive playlist by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn. He appears just a moment and I want to punch him in the face. What a jerk! He thinks he's the best and he is just an idiot.

Will from Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. I think Will is the character who annoys me the most. He could have whatever he wanted, but he is such a vain that this is impossible. He hurts people and he, deep down, regrets, but sometimes you see he enjoys with that. He is helpful, but he also brings problems.

Hadley's father from The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith. This is the only character who is an adult and his behaviour surprises me a lot. I am not saying when you're an adult you can't make mistakes, but the way he does everything is very selfish. He doesn't think in Hadley, he only thinks in himself. Besides, if you're not happy with the whole situation, you're a bad person, whereas he can do whatever he wants. Uf.

So, yes, these are the character annoy me, but what are yours? Can you think in more examples? What do you think about the characters I chose? Do you agree with me? Please let me know in the comments and Don't forget to link me your characters :)

It's Monday! What are you reading?

                                                     hosted by : Book Journey

Hi everyone!!! :)

Today I want to share with you what I'm reading and what I intend to read next.

I'm reading

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. I've read more pages and the more I read the more interesting it gets. I really love Rose and all the characters in the book, even Mia hehe.

Anne of Avonlea (Anne of Green Gables, #2)

Anne of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery. I think I like this one more than Anne of Green Gables. I don't know why, but I think it's because Anne is now 16.

Next

Epic Fail

Epic Fail by Claire LaZebnik. I've heard this one is a great read and it's a retelling of Pride and Prejudice. Am I right? I think this one it's the kind of book I'm going to love :)

So, what are you reading? Do we have the same books or totally different? Please let me know in the comments and Don't forget to share yours!

Sundays in bed with ...

                                                 hosted by: Midnight Book Girl

Hi everyone!!! :)

Today I'm spending the day with this lovely book

Anne of Avonlea (Anne of Green Gables, #2)

I think I'm enjoying more than the first book because now Anne is older and she's very intelligent and wise although she as usual makes some mistakes. I like Anne because she likes challenges and she doesn't give up easily. I like her relationship with Gilbert and the fact they can talk about everything.

Well, this the book I'm reading, but what is yours? Do you know Anne of Green Gables series? Did you like them? Please let me know in the comments and link me what book you are spending the Sunday with :)

Anna of Avonlea in Book Beginnings + The Friday 56

Hi everyone!!! :)

So today I'm sharing with you the beginning and the page 56 of this book

Anne of Avonlea (Anne of Green Gables, #2)

" 1

   An Irate Neighbour

A tall, slim girl, "half-past sixteen," with serious grey eyes and hair which her friends called auburn, had sat down on the broad read sandstone doorstep of a Prince Edward Island farmhouse one ripe afternoon in August, firmly resolved to construe so many lines of Virgil."
hosted by: Rose City Reader

"we're going to be real good friends if we make plenty of allowances for each other, and everything has turned out for the best."

hosted by: Freda's voice

I like the beginning of the book a lot. It's how I imagine Anne and the author, L.M. Montgomery, makes an excellent work in the way she connects the end of  the previous book (the first book in the series) and the beginning of this second book.

I've tried not to give away too much when I shared the the page 56, that's why, maybe, you don't like it or you don't understand it quite well, but anyway, I like this second book and I think the series should be read because they're interesting and very well-written. I think they deserve more attention.

So, what so you think of Anna of Avonlea? Do you like it or do you like more the first book? Let me know in the comments and share with me your beginnings and your 56 pages :)

The Sweetest Thing Review or How Jill Shalvis Blew My Mind

What would happen if you had to come back to the town you swore you would never set foot in it?

Well, this is what happened to Tara, the main character of this book

The Sweetest Thing (Lucky Harbor, #2) What is this about?

Tara's mother, Phoebe, has left her an inn in Lucky Harbour. But she is not alone, she has her sisters, Maddie and Cloe, to decide what to do with the inn .For the practical Tara, the decision is  simple:  improve the inn and sell it as quick as possible to run away from the town which brought her nothing, but problems and ... Ford.

My Thoughts:

This is the second book in the Lucky Harbor series. In the first book the main character is Maddie and in this book the main character is Tara, her sister.

So, when I discovered in this book I wasn't allowed to read Maddie's thought, but instead Tara's thoughts, I was a little bit disappointed. I wanted to know more about Maddie and her story and I felt I wasn't going to love this story. Happily, I was wrong.

I really love this story and I think I love even more than the first story in the first book in the series.

What I like: I like the fact it's not necessary to read this series in a order although there is a connection between them. This means you can read only one book or you can read the whole books in the series. That's up to you. Although I think it's better to read them in order because there are points which start in the first book continue in the second book.

I like the main character isn't flat. Like: I'm Tara and I live now in this town. I like because she seems to be real, she has more than one thing in her life going on and it's clear she has a life apart from Ford or Maddie or Cloe. I imagine her in her day to day.

What I don't like: I don't like all the characters are like top models, specially the guys, all of them have a six pack abs and they are gorgeous. I like the idea and I like Jill talks about it, but when I've found it very frequently in the book, it annoyed a bit. I prefer the male character is cute and nice and has some charm more than if he has a six pack abs.

To sum up: I really really loved this story. I highly recommend it to you. It's very well-written and it's believable. The characters aren't flat, they are well-built.

So, what do you think about it? Do you what to read it or you think it's not your cup of tea? Let me know in the comments.

Setting books in Europe

hosted by: The Book and the Bookish

Hi everyone!!! :)

Today it's about what settings I'd like to see more in books and I could think just one: Europe.

I normally read books written by American people and I guess they prefer to set the actions in places they know more than places they don't know or they aren't interested in.
Apart from that, I really curious about how American people see European people and I'd also like to see books who were written by foreigners (it's not necessary they are Americans) talking about Spain. I really want to know what foreigners think about Spain apart from the typical stereotypes: Siesta, fiesta, football and bullfighting.

So, what do you think? What are you settings? Do you think Spanish people only like partying? Do you know anything about us? Feel free to share in the comments :)

It's Monday! What are *you* reading?

                                                     hosted by : Book Journey

Hey, guys!!! :)

So today I have some books which I want to share with you. These books are the books I'm reading now and the books I intend to read next. I hope you like them and comment about them. Thanks a lot for stopping by :)

The books I'm reading now are:

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. I expected to love this book more, but, it's not what it's happening and I feel a bit sad about it. I think I haven't got to the best parts, so it still can improve or at least, I hope so :)

Madame Bovary

Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert. I haven't read much this book, so I don't have any idea  what it's about yet. I've decided to read the book in French because I want to learn some French, but maybe I'm crazy and this read is going to be a tough one. So what do you think? Is it easy?

The books I intend to read next are:

Lost in a Good Book (Thursday Next, #2)

Lost in a good book by Jasper Fforde. I read the first book and I liked it. I need something funny to read and I think this is an excellent option :)

Epic Fail

Epic Fail by Claire Lazebnik. I wanted to reserve it for the next month, but I can't wait to read it any more :(

So, what do you think about them? Have you read them? If so, did you like them? Let me know in the comments. Thanks :)

Sundays in bed with ...Vampire Academy

                                                 hosted by: Midnight Book Girl

Hi everyone!!! :)

Today I'm spending the day with this book

I like this book, but I don't love it as much as I expected. Some of you tell me it improves at some point, so now I'm curious and I want to know more.

So, yes, this is the book I'm spending the day, but what's yours?

Friday 56: Starting AGAIN the same book :(

                                                                hosted by: Freda's voice

Hi everyone!!! :)

Today I'm going to share with you some sentences of a book most of you love.

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)

" I didn't say anything to that. Before we'd left the Academy, she'd always felt like someone was following her, like she was being hunted."

So, yes, I'm starting this book again because the first time I didn't understand quite well and I mixed names. At first, I thought Victor, Lissa's uncle, was giving Rose extra classes instead of Dimitri and having seen your comments on the story I think Dimitri is important in the story.

Well, this is me, but what do you think about it? Do you like the books or just one book? Let me know in the comments :)

A Walk to Avonlea: Anna of Green Gables Review

Have you ever thought what would happen if you made a mistake and that mistake changed your life forever?

Well, this is what happened to the characters of Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery.

Anne of Green Gables (Anne of Green Gables, #1)What is this about?

A man and awoman, Matthew and Marilia, a brother and a sister, who live in Avonlea decide to adopt an orphan. They want a boy who helps Matthew in the farm, but a terrible misunderstanding brings a girl instead of a boy. This girl is not a common girl and she is going to make the quiet life of Matthew and Marilia very different with her smartness and her non-stop talking.

My Thoughts:

At first, I didn't find the story very interesting until Anne appears. Once she did it was impossible for me not to fell in love with the girl and with the story. She is an unforgettable character because she is smart and funny. she is always talking and getting into trouble.

What I liked: You can read every chapter like a story itself. Obviously you have to read the book in order to follow the main plot, but if you know what happens in he book you can read very chapter in no order at all.

What I don't like: The stories most of the time were or funny or entertaining or both things, but many of them were about Anne got into trouble and one story was good, but once I read several, I got bored.

The characters:

Anne: She's an amazing character. The book starts when she's 11 and ends when she's 16. It doesn't matter what age or what she's doing, you always find her interesting. That surprised me a lot!

Gilbert: I really like Gilbert, although at the beginning of the book was a pain, and his relationship with Anne. It seems as if Anne transformed him into a new person. I loved the idea both shared the same interests.

Marilla: I really love Marilla. I love her because she is hard from the outside, but soft in the inside and how Marilla is also as Gilbert transformed by Anne.

Matthew: I love Matthew and his relationship with Anne. I picture them together and they seem to me an adorable couple. One very shy and quiet, the other outgoing and saying what she thinks.

So, what do you think? Do you want to give it a try?

Top Ten 2013 Debuts I'm Looking Forward To

hosted by: The Book and the Bookish

Hi everyone!!! :)

Today I want to share with you the 2013 débuts I'm looking forward. It's supposed you have to think as many books as you can, but the only book I think of is this one:

Let the Sky Fall (Let the Sky Fall, #1)

I read the blurb and I think this one could be a great read.

So, what do you think?

It's Monday! What are *you* reading?

                                   hosted by : Book Journey

Hi everyone!!! :)

Today I'm going to share with you what I finished last week, what I'm reading right now and what I want to read next.

Last week I finished

The Sweetest Thing (Lucky Harbor, #2)The sweetest thing by Jill Shalvis. I really really love this book. It's the second book in Lucky Harbor series. I loved the first book in the series and I think I loved even more this one. If you like a good story, this is the perfect book :)

Now I'm reading

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. I'm giving it another try because I think this book deserves more. Well we'll see.

Lugares que no quiero compartir con nadiePlaces that I don't want to share with anyone (Lugares que no quiero compartir con nadie is the original title) by Elvira Lindo. I love Elvira Lindo, she seems so sweet, but when it comes to her books, I have read only one. When I saw this one in the library, I thought it'd be a good read, but I don't know yet, I haven' read much.

Next

Lost in a Good Book (Thursday Next, #2)Lost in a good book by Jasper Fforde. I read the first book in the series and I liked it, so, I'm going to read this one to know what it's going to be the next adventure of Thursday.

So, this is me, but what are you reading today?

Sundays in bed with...

                                                    hosted by: Midnight Book Girl

Hi everyone!!! :)

Today I'm spending my Sunday with this book

The Sweetest Thing (Lucky Harbor, #2)

Yes, I know it's the same book that the last week :( I'm about to finish it and I loooooove it. It's amazing. I though Simple Irresistible (the first book in this series) was good, but this one it's even better.

I highly recommend you :)

So, what book are you spending the day with?

Quoting Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Hi everyone!!! :)

Today I'm quoting some sentences from this book

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter, #6)

"People find it far easier to forgive other for being wrong than being right"

I totally agree with this quote. When I find somebody is wrong, I don't correct them , I just let go. But when they are right that annoys me a little bit because I think why I didn't know it myself or How come I could be wrong.

So, what do you think? Do you agree with it?

The Friday 56: The Sweetest Thing by Jill Shalvis

                                              hosted by: Freda's voice

Hi everyone!!! :)

Today I want to share with you the page 56 of this incredible romance I'm reading right now
The Sweetest Thing (Lucky Harbor, #2)

How it works:

Grab a book, any book, turn to page 56 or 56% in your ereader, find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you and post it.

"Everything goes bad"; - she murmured, trying to reach the basil. She couldn't have it next to the cumin - yuck."

This beautiful romance is the second book in the series of Lucky Harbour. It's really beautiful, entertaining and sexy. You can't stop reading it until you finish it because you get into the story right from the beginning.

If you think you could love this book, I highly recommend you the first book, Simply Irresistible. It's similar to this book, but at the same time it contains a totally different story.

So, what do you think? Do you want to give it a try?

Library Book Haul

Hi everyone!!! :)

So today I want to share with you the books I borrowed from the library yesterday. I'm sure that you've recognised at least two, but I'm going to tell you the titles anyway.

Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert. I haven't read anything by Gustave Flaubert and since I want to read something in French. I thought that this one can be a great read. Many of you loved it, so I think, yes, I'm going to give it a try :)

Frostbite by Richelle Mead. I'm still struggling with the first book in the series, this is the second one, but since you said that it was great and it's improved later,  I thought to give the first one and second chance and borrowed from the library the second one which I found it in English. Yes! :)

Epic fail by Claire LaZebnik. I'd like to read this one in English too, but I saw it in the library and I couldn't help taking it. Many of you said nothing but good things about and, although I wanted to read it in February because of St Valentine's day, I grabbed anyway. I'm sooo excited about this book. I think it's going to be a great read!

Last but not least Lost in a good book by Jasper Fforde. I read the first book and I liked so since I need something funny to read I thought this book would be great. What do you think?

Well, so this is me and my journey to the library, but what about you? Do you borrowed books from the library?

Wednesday of review: ttyl by Lauren Myracle

Hi everyone!!! :)

Today I want to share with you my review of this book:

 http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1350771009l/301023.jpg

MY REVIEW:

The author: I haven't heard nothing about it until I saw the book in this vlog. I think she is great. I loved the idea of this book and I believe that I'm going to read more books by her.

The story: It's about three girls who talk about their thoughts and what happens in their lives through instant messages.

The characters: I really loved the main characters: Angela, Zoe and Maddie. I loved them because they have flaws like everybody else. They are not perfect and they make mistakes.

I love Angela and specially when she says what she is doing using * * I think she is really funny.

I love Maddie because she is strong and I think she doesn't like the main stream.

I love Zoe because she is wise, intelligent and smart.

My thoughts: At first I was a little reluctant to read the book because although Raeleen in her vlog said it was hilarious, maybe I didn't find it that fun, I’m glad to say that I was wrong :D (Please check out Raeleen vlog, it's really great. I watched a few videos and I followed her because they are fantastic. Here is the video where she talks about this book)

I really loved the book and yes, it was hilarious. To tell the truth, when I started to read it, I thought it was OK, but a few minutes later I couldn't stop reading it and if I did, I grabbed again to read more and more.

The only thing that made me feel uncomfortable was the abbreviations. I really loved them, don't get me wrong, because it's how teenagers talk, but I had to look up several words several times because I couldn't understand anything. Luckily I was at home so i could look up them on the Internet otherwise I think I would be lost. But it's also true that there are some, not many abbreviations and some appear several times, so you learn them and you don't have problems with them. Plus, if you read the abbreviation aloud you can understand the meaning. So it's not complicated. For me it was a bit complicated because I am a foreigner and I could get through.  So, don't worry about the abbreviations, the book deserves the effort.
To sum up: I really loved the book. It was not only funny, but also it dealt with difficult issues. I highly recommend to everyone. Maybe you will enjoy more if you are a teenager, but I don't think that really matters because I'm not and I really enjoyed it very much.

Well, this is me, but what about you?

Top Ten Bookish Goals For 2013

hosted by: The Book and the Bookish

Hi everyone!!! :)

Today I want to share with you my ten bookish goals for 2013, although this time I could think of 6 :( And here they are:

Read more books from my shelves. It's funny how many times I've run to buy a book and now the same book is on my shelf unread. I really really wanted to read the book, that's why I bought it, but once it's in my house or I think I'm not in the mood or I have to return some books to the library, the case is I haven't read them yet.

Sign up more read-a-thons, read-a- longs and challenges. Aren't they fun? Yeees! I really love them and the people who host them come up with great ideas. They are great! :)

Read more standalones. Lately it's really hard to find a book which doesn't belong to a series. I have to pay attention because otherwise I always end reading a book from a book series. I love them, don't get me wrong, but it's also nice to read one book to finish a story.

Read more non-fiction. This is for me like an impossible task. I read fictional books and watch films about a topic (for instance Egypt and mummies) and I think: wow, this is sooo interesting, I'm going to pick up a book and know more about it. I don't know if it's me or the book, but it's really hard to read it. I'm going to try to pick up books more careful and we'll see.

Read more classics. Well, lately I'm reading more classics, but it's true that I have many classics which I bought long time ago that they are still on my shelves unread. I want to read them, but many times I don't understand the vocabulary, so I have to look up many words and still I don't understand the meaning. Since my English level has improved, I feel more confident to read these books. I hope to be able to read them because I think they are really good.

Record videos. Well, I don't know if I am going to do this, but I thought that it would be a good idea. Recently I have seen many vlogs sharing books and doing tags and I thought that it seemed very funny. I don't know if you want me to talk English with my Spanish accent, but I think it'd help me to talk better in English at least. So, we'll see.

Well, this is me, but what about you? What are your goals?

It's Monday! What are *you* reading?

                                   hosted by : Book Journey
Hi everyone!!! :)

So today I want to share with you the books I'm reading right now, the books I finished last week and the books I want to read next.

Last week I finished

Anne of Green Gables (Anne of Green Gables, #1)

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. Yes, this is my first read in 2013. I loved some chapters, but I though others were OK. I wanted more adventures in which Gilbert was involved.

Now I'm reading

The Sweetest Thing (Lucky Harbor, #2)

The sweetest thing by Jill Shalvis. OMG! I really love this book, although I think I love a bit less than the previous book in the series, Simply irresistible. But we'll see what happens in the end :)

Bludzee 2 by Lewis Trondheim. This is the second book in the series and although I've read just bit and I love it. I think it is not going to let me down.

Next

On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God (Confessions of Georgia Nicolson, #2)

On the bright side I'm now the girlfriend of a sex God by Louise Renninson. I'm putting off this book, but I'm in the mood for something funny so this one can be an interesting read. What do you thing?

Well, this is me, but what about you?
