The good, the bad and the ugly

Today, I was thinking about the movies have been based on books.

Normally, I read the book and then if I liked the book, I watch the movie. Other times, I discover a movie which I want to watch is based on a book. I read the book and then I watch the movie. And sometimes, I found out later I watched a movie which was based on a book. Because I already watched the movie, I decide to give the book a try, to compare them.

But what I found out today was

One: you love the book but you hate the movie. How many times I read a book and I loved, then watch the movie and ask to myself What crap I am watching?  The most extreme case was The Flanders Panel by Arturo Perez Reverte. I liked so much the book. It tells the story of an art restorer who has to resolve a mystery. I liked the idea and I think I read the book very quickly. I found the movie and put on my video. I started watching and I saw Kate Beckinsale in every scene naked. In the book her character has some sex intercourses, but I said some not she has to show me all her anatomy. I was stunned. At first, I thought maybe I was watching the wrong movie. But not, they decided to skip all the mystery and fill it with Kate's breast.

Two: you love the book and you love the film. This case is strange but sometimes happens.  I can think one case: The Fencing Master by Arturo Perez Reverte. I liked the book and I watched the movie and I liked both of them. I have to say in the movie they didn't change anything and they try to put it just in the same way as in the book. It's like to read the book twice.

Three: you love the movie but you don't like the book. This is a really really strange case but I know one case in which I've watched the movie many many times and I love it and I read the book once and I don't want to reread it: The Princess Bride. I love the movie, I love the characters, the actors, (although watch how Columbo (the grandpa) goes to visit Kevin (grandson) it's really weird :P)but when I read the book I was very disappointed.

This is me, but what about you?

It's Monday! What are you reading?

Hi! One week more in which I share with you what books I read last week, what I'm reading and I want to read next.

Last week I finished 2 books. One was Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. I heard of this book in one of Misty's posts and I wanted to give it a try. I liked it, it reminded me of Twilight though, but Grace's story I really liked it. I liked the idea of two people telling the story. Some chapters are told by Grace's point of view and others from Sam's point of view. It's well-written and entertaining. I recommend it. I also finished Logicomix a graphic novel which talks about mathematical logic. It sounds boring but in this novel it isn't. I liked so much the book that I read in one day. It's well written and well-explained. It tells the life of Bertrand Russell and through his life we are explained mathematical login since the Aristotle times until the second world war. It's a very good book. I highly recommend it.

Now, I'm reading Linger by Maggie Stiefvater. It's a bit disappointing with respect to the first part. I'm a bit tired of the story and in the first part something is happening but in this part I don't see anything mysterious. I don't know. Let's we'll see. I am also reading Looking for Alaska by John Green. Anne recommended it in her blog. I decided to buy some books and I included this one. So far, I don't regret it because it's a very good book. I love it. Thanks Anne. Since I like languages, I've started the book A l'ami qui ne m'a pas sauvé la vie by Hervé Guibert . It talks about AIDS. The author discovers he is infected. It's really sad but I like it. I heard about this author thanks to Sophie Calle, the  French writer and photographer. In one of her books, Exquisite pain which I recommend, tells a reporter called Hervé Guilbert stole one of her photographs. I decided to look for this guy and read one of his books. I'm also reading Howards End. I like it so far. I read at university A room with a view and I didn't like it but this one is really good. I enjoyed it. I am still reading the adventures of Miranda France as a student in Spain in Don Quixote's delusions. I'd have liked if she had written more about Cervantes more than her life in her Spanish apartment. In addition, I'm reading a book about Digital photograph. I want to do better pictures.

Next, I want to read 1Q84 by Kashuo Ishiguro since I enjoyed much reading What I talk about when I talk about running, Solar by Ian McEwan which I think it's interesting and the 4 books in the 1920s omnibus by Agatha Christie: The secret adversary, The man in the brown suit, The secret of chimneys and The secret dials of mystery, not necessarily in that order.

This is me, but what are you reading?

It's Monday! What are you reading?

Hi! it's me again sharing with you what I've read last week, what I'm reading and what I intend to read next.

Well, last week I didn't finish any book but instead I started reading Howards End. I like the book so far aulthough I haven't read many pages. I am also reading Don Quixote's delusions by Miranda France and Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. I didn't know that Shiver is the first book of a serie of books. I don't like too much triologies because normally the first book is really good and the rest aren't and you have to read only to know the end of the story. In this case, I think I'd try to read all because I like the story.

Next, wow, I have a looooooooooooooot of books. I put together in a shelf of my house. I'd like to read all of them: Brideheads revisited, Solar by Ian McEwan, several books of Neil Gaiman, books of John Green, etc, etc, etc.

This is me, what about you?

Choose one, lady! :)

Well, in the end I chose Howards end. I've started reading and I like it. I have the film too so when I finish it, I'll see the film. I think one of the actress is Emma Thompson who is one of my favourite actress, so I really want to watch the film.

Thanks for the help, watch my blog and leave comments. I don't write too much because I spend my time reading other blogs :P but, I'll try to improve it.

It's Monday! What are you reading?

Hi!!! :)

This is another week I tell you what I've read last week, what I'm reading and next, what I intend to read.

Last week I finished Never let me go by Kazuo Ishiguro. Awesome book! It's not easy to find books like this. Difficult to classify.

This week I'm reading Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. I heard of this book in  Misty's blog and I wanted to give it try when I came across it in the library. It's a pity but I'm reading it in Spanish because I couldn't find it in English, but, anyway, it's interesting in this way too. I also reading Don Quixote's delusions by Miranda France. It's a good book. I like it because it tells things about Cervantes, Don Quixote, authors' opinions about the book and Cervantes but also she tells things about Spain and how she saw it at that time being a foreigner.

Next, I want to read Howards End by E.M. Forster and Brideshead revisited by Evelyn Waugh, but I don't know which one first. If you want to help me there is a poll in the right banner, just press in which book like you most or leave me a comment. Thank you.

Help, please! :)

Today, I have been wondering which book in my to-read pile of books would be the next book to read. I've made a selection and in the end I've decided to choose  between one of these two. So far so good.
Añadir leyenda

But now, I can't decide which one. I've read the plot of both plots and they look interesting. I've started reading both books and  I liked their first lines. I looked in goodreaders and they have the same score ¬¬

So, now, I've decided to do this and I ask you (beg you) which one you would choose or which one you found more interesting or if you read one, and you liked a lot. Just what you think.
Thanks a lot! :)

It's Monday! What are you reading?

Hi!!!

Another week in which I tell you what I read, what I'm reading right now and I intend to read next.

Last week I finished Pride and Prejudice. It's a good book but sometimes I got lost when people talked. Now, I want to watch the tv mini-series pride and prejudice starred by Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle.

This week I'm reading Don Quixote's delusions, Never let me go by Kashuo Ishiguro (I loooooooooooooooooove this book, I highly recommend it. Although I know that I said this before it's true :)) and I've just started reading Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. I heard of this book in thebookrat.com and I want to give it a try. So far, it's really good.

Next, I want to read sooooooooooooooooooo many books that I don't know what book will be the first but some of them are: looking for Alaska by John Green, Solar by Ian McEwan, Don Quixote by Cervantes. I want to read some of Neil Gaiman's books and Agatha Christie's books.

That's me but what about you? :)
