Review: An attempt at exhausting place in Paris by Georges Perec

Hi everyone!!! :)

I hope you are very well and today I want to share with you my thoughts on this book:

7902560

What this book is about?: Perec decides to spend 3 days in the Saint-Sulpice square to observe what he sees and take notes about it.

What I liked about this book

First of all, I liked the idea of going to a place and write down what you see. I hadn't thought about doing that and the way Perec explained the idea sounded very cool.

I liked that the book was different from other books I have been reading. What you read in this book is his notes and what he thinks about the things he sees and he tells you in a way that you find it really cool and also you want to do it yourself. While I was reading I was thinking that it would be really cool to do this in Paris and also see the streets and places the author he went. Also I wanted to do it in my own town.

Also he observes buses and banners and things like that that in my case I wouldn't take into consideration and the way he thinks and writes about them is really interesting.

What I didn't like about this book.

The only complain I have is that I didn't know some places and I looked for them on the Internet.I couldn't find them because or it was difficult to find the exact place or they didn't exist anymore.

Overall, it was a great read. I found it very interesting and cool. I really enjoy the whole experience very much and it's probable that I read this book soon again.

My rating: 5 starts.

Ten Book I Enjoyed Recently (last yearish) That Weren't My Typical Genre/Type of Book (or that was out of your comfort zone)

hosted by: The Broke and the Bookish

Hi everybody!!! :)

I hope you are very well. Today I want to share my Top Ten Books I enjoyed recently that weren't my typical genre/type of book.

I don't tend to read books that are out of my comfort zone (it's called comfort zone for a reason ;)) or books outside my typical genre, so this list was difficult to make, but fortunately I found some books that fitted the bill that and here they are:

Chip of the Flying U (Flying U #1) by

The flowers of evil by

The last lecture Randy Pausch. This one was a great read for me and that's surprising because I don't tend to read books about cancer (my aunt died from cancer and it's one of the reasons I don't read books about this topic) and because this is a true story about a man dying from cancer. He is great and tells the whole book in a very interesting way. I loved it.

Hi everybody!!! :)

I hope you're very well. Today I want to share with you the books I'm currently reading.

6969

Emma by Jane Austen. This book is about a woman who likes meddling in other people's lives. I like this book so far, it's very interesting and good. I'm glad that I pick up this book.

112204

Poems by Emily Dickinson. I like this book, it's interesting how she wrote the poems although it's a bit depressing book.

4342215

The  rights of the reader(Comme un roman) by Daniel Pennac. This one is about the rights of the reader: the right not to read, the right to re-read, the right to skip pages, etc. This book is for me a re-read and I really like this book. It's great how Pennac talks about reading and also how he takes off pressure of reading. Reading is a pleasure and it shouldn't be considered like a punishment. Really great book, I highly recommend it. If you want, you can read it, it has been translated into English :)

This are the books I'm reading, let me know what you're reading today :)

Review: The flowers of evil by Charles Baudelaire

Hi everyone!!! :)

I hope you're very well.

This year I have decided to read more classics. Last year I read Lady Susan by Jane Austen and I had a great experience, so hopefully I will be reading more classics this year.

But today I want to talk about this book:

536387

What this book is about?: This book is a compilation of poems about death, the depravation of the human being, cats, owls, etc.

What I liked about this book:

I liked how well it was made. I find difficult to pass a message let alone in a poem and I have to say he did a great job. I thought the poems were well-done and how he expresses in these poems is great.

The book was engaging and I wanted to carry on reading it.

One thing that surprised me it was that the poems were short and I was glad that it expressed an idea and the author didn't talk about many things in the poems which I think it would be confusing.

What I didn't like:

It was that sometimes I didn't understand the poems and it's something that it bothers me because I don't know why I can't sometimes understand poems. I don't know it's because I don't read them more closely, it's because I haven't studied how to read poetry, it's because it was written 100 years ago. I don't know, but sometimes I couldn't understand the poems in this book.

My rating: It was difficult to rate. I normally read novels and for me it's much easier to see what things I like and what I don't (plot, characters, original ideas, etc), but when it comes to poetry it's difficult because the poems are ideas more than stories, so it's difficult when you don't have a plot or a character to see if you like them or not. I think he did a great job and I liked what I read, so I gave it 3 starts.

Review: Dying to meet you by Kate Klise and M. Sarah Klise

    Hi everyone!!! :)

I hope you're very well and today I want to share with you my thoughts on this book.

    6150990

What is this book about?: It's about a writer who decides to rent a house where he can write his next book. When he goes to the house, he finds out that a boy and his cat are living there and he has to take care of them.

    My thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book very much and I didn't expect that. I thought since it was a children book, I was going to like it, but I have to say that I had a great experience reading.

The first thing that attracted me was how the book was made. The story is told through letters that different characters send to each other and newspaper cuttings. I found that really cool especially when the letters have different fonts depend on who is writing the letter.

The second thing was the illustrations. I really liked them and I think it gave to the book a nice touch.

Another thing that I liked it was the fact that it was easy to read. You can read it in just one day.

Although it's a children book, I think it's for children from 11 years old or so. I wouldn't give this book to younger readers.

I had a great time reading it and definitely I'm going to carry on reading the rest books in the series.

    My Rating: ****
